Maintaining fitness goals is one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions that people have. Luckily, the fitness world is constantly growing and changing, bringing about new trends for us to partake in. In this blog, we’re going to be talking about some of the biggest trends in fitness predicted to boom in 2023.

Going Green

Climate change is already a major issue in the sports industry, as researchers are already looking into how it can affect the development of new sports and the activities of athletes. One of the most common ways that people contribute to this issue is through their fitness routines.

Most major apparel and shoe companies have started to introduce eco-friendly products. These include products that are made from sustainable materials. Some newer companies, such as NNormal, are also focused on reducing their environmental impact by making their products more durable.

There are so many opportunities for change that it’s hard to keep track of all of them. From ditching disposable cups at the races to rethinking travel-heavy routines, there are plenty of ways to make a difference in the environment.

Mini-Workouts

According to the researchers, these are relatively short and isolated bouts of vigorous exercise that can be performed throughout the day that can have a number of benefits for the body.

A study conducted by researchers revealed that increasing one’s stair count to three flights three times a week can have a positive effect on their fitness. This movement away from the idea of only working out at the gym is also a step toward a more sustainable approach to exercise.

Women-centric fitness stories

Since researchers have mostly focused on men when it comes to conducting studies on fitness, it’s not clear if their conclusions can be applied to women. It’s also common for sports companies to focus on “shrink it and pink it.”

Despite the slow progress, the fitness world is starting to change. Two upcoming books by Christine Yu and Lauren Fleshman provide a comprehensive overview of the changes that are happening in the industry and why it matters to be an advocate for it.

Posture workouts

People are looking for ways to improve their posture, as many of them suffer from the side effects of poor alignments, such as the dowager’s hump and tech neck. Performing posture workouts can help strengthen and tone the muscles that support the spine. These muscles include the erector spinae, the pelvic floor, and the lumbar spine, which work together to keep you upright.

Exercising for mental health

It has been a challenging few years for many people, and it’s important to prioritize one’s mental health. While it’s common for people to take bubble baths and facial treatments, more and more are turning to movement to improve their well-being.

Aside from being able to improve one’s mood and reduce stress, regular exercise can also help boost one’s sleep and improve brain function. In addition, it can help people connect with others and develop confidence. As for this coming year, it’s important that people continue to make time for exercise, as it can help them maintain their mental health.
